Global Logistics Business with Head Office in USA
An international logistics company approached Trainiac to design their global induction programme. The company was finding that it was difficult to create a consistent message when each region designed their own induction. The story was always told in a slightly different way and the nuances that made each region different were emphasised rather than the similarities which made them one company. The client decided that Trainiac would be the preferred supplier as they had worked together locally. The client had one main challenge to overcome in the design of a global induction – a language one. As Trainiac creates learning solutions using visuals, the client would not need to translate the material into all the languages spoken in the business.
Trainiac began designing their induction programme by interviewing stakeholders from the different regions. It was important that all the regions bought into the programme and had input into the content, as they would be rolling out the developed programme. The induction programme covered how and when the company was started, the values, mission and vision, the strategy going forward and the different products that were sold. Trainiac also created a world map to show learners where the company operated and incorporated personal stories from existing staff. The programme was designed to ensure that all employees, new and existing, could be taken through an interactive induction and gain a deeper understanding of their business. The programme was also converted into an engaging digital solution, which would allow employees in remote offices to complete the programme.
Creating an induction programme for a global organisation can be complicated as each region has a different culture and, in some cases, history. Trainiac circumvented these complications by involving all stakeholders from the start. All the solutions offered by the client were included in the programme and the facilitators were up-skilled in a comprehensive train-the-trainer to direct learners through the material. This ensured that all employees had knowledge of how their region operated within the bigger organisation. The digital programme has been incorporated into their Learning Management System and all employees have access to it.
